Occidental The Public
Opened last year in an Ottoman-era building near Taksim Square, the Public features 52 timber-floored rooms furnished with bright Smeg fridges, Philippe Starck taps, and Bugatti kettles. Some rooms have exposed-brick walls and balconies overlooking Beyoglu’s pedestrian shopping thoroughfare, Istiklal Caddesi. Sip a cocktail in the lobby bar—a meeting point for local creatives—or, in fine weather, lounge in the leafy courtyard, a rare spot of green in increasingly concrete Istanbul.
