Palazzo Vecchietti
As far as central location goes, this imposing, 16th-century palazzo (steps from Piazza della Repubblica, the Duomo, and the posh designer boutiques of Via Tornabuoni and Via Roma) is hard to beat. Michele Bonan's trademark flawless, classic-contemporary interiors pay homage to the building's origins with antiques, sober soft furnishings, and the odd flourish of mauve or deep blue velvet. The 12 bedrooms and suites and two apartments are named after artists; breakfast is served at a communal table at the top of the house.
