'Ino (from panino) was Matteo Renzi's favorite place for a lunchtime sandwich when he was mayor of Florence, and it's easy to see why. Top-notch products, sourced from all over Italy by owner and panino guru Alessandro Frassica, go into a daily-changing menu of sandwiches made either from salt-less Tuscan bread (an acquired taste, but once you've got it you'll never want anything else) or oily, crispy foccaccia. Look out for unusual combos such as saffron-infused pecorino cheese, grilled zucchini, and bell pepper chutney, mortadella with spicy fig jam, butter and salty anchovies....the list goes on. 'Ino is also a deli stocked with goodies that make great gifts to take home. It's located a stone's throw from the Uffizi gallery, and is an excellent place to recoup after a marathon art fest.
