El Marqués
In Cartagena’s cobblestoned Old Town, El Marqués Hotel still feels like an old colonial home. Ornate wooden balconies look out over courtyards and shaded terraces, rustic beams and polished stone floors set off white walls and bathrooms, and low-slung canvas chairs create quiet nooks under the palms. La Cava, the hotel’s restaurant, is one of the town’s best, with outdoor seating by a fountain and dishes like snapper à la plancha with avocado mousse.
