Casa Dorada Los Cabos Resort and Spa
New to the scene (it opened in 2008) and discernibly hip, Casa Dorada faces onto Medano Beach, and is walking distance to the shops and restaurants of Cabo San Lucas. The 150 capacious suites were appointed by designer Adriana Hoyos in cool desert tones with red, orange, and mahogany splashes, and come with equipped kitchenettes, 220-square-foot porches or balconies, and an impossible-to-utilize number of closets (up to five per suite). Free-flowing bathroom areas contain two marble sinks, a soaking tub off the living room, and vanity-style mirrors that, when not in use, reflect the sea and mountain views. A waterfall connects the hotel's two pools and lulls sun-drenched guests into restful siestas on curtained daybeds with its constant murmur. The Saltwater Spa specializes in unusual treatments, including the Harmony Balls massage, which uses silver Chinese baoding balls to stimulate pressure points with 48 tonal vibrations. Traveling with a furry friend? The hotel recently became pet friendly (not to mention added butler service).
