Centro Cultural Kirchner
Originally a Beaux-Arts post office, this stunning building has undergone a lengthy facelift and reopened as Latin America’s largest cultural center. Cross the threshold and step back in time; the central hall has original wooden bureaus and switchboards, though a suspended Julio Le Parc installation now hangs above this former communications hub. Part of the overhaul included constructing a music hall fit to house the national symphony orchestra. All activities, including live music, tango classes, and exhibitions from local and international artists, are free; guided hour-long tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis Thursdays to Sundays in Spanish.
