La Mar Cebichería
La Mar turns out impeccable Peruvian-inspired seafood designed for sharing. Opened in March 2015, it’s become a firm local favorite; book two weeks ahead for a weekend reservation. Peruvian transplant Anthony Vásquez—who worked for Gastón Acurio, the biggest name in Peruvian cuisine—turns out tangy ceviches in various flavors. The Classic and Miraflores raw fish dishes are surefire hits, but don’t overlook the causas (potato terrines), anticuchos (stewed meats), tiraditos (marinated crudo), and whole fish. For dessert, try the chocolate mousse topped with crunchy quinoa—a chocoholic’s dream. Wash it all down with a Chilcano, a Pisco-based cocktail.
