Fort Greene Flea
The flea market credited with kicking off a New York City movement still convenes every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the same high school gym lawn where it all began. Browse the outdoor stalls for antique furniture, vintage clothing, and decorative goods (some salvaged, some hand-crafted), and come hungry—street food vendors line up along one side of the Flea to peddle everything from lobster rolls to artisan ice cream sandwiches and El Salvadorian pupusas (salsa-topped corncakes filled with various types of meat and cheese). You could easily spend an entire day here, alternating between shopping and eating.
