Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK)
For the 2008 Olympics, this airport handled nearly 100,000 passengers and over 7,000 Olympic-related flights. That’s no issue for this sky port that saw almost 74 million passengers in 2010. Founded in 1958, the location has been expanded multiple times up to its current size of two towers and three terminals and runways. Often used as a hub for travelers between Asia, Europe, and the Americas, more than 70 airlines utilize the “China Gateway.” Multiple freeways lead out of the airport into surrounding areas; on-site dining and shopping options including plenty of duty-free shops and the ubiquitous KFC or Starbucks.
