Uluwatu Temple Kecak Dance
Dance on this Hindu island is a religion and supplication to the gods. Accordingly, Balinese dances are as varied and intricate as the deities they honor and religious tales they tell. All are spellbinding, but the fiery Kecak dance, accompanied by the percussive chanting of a 50-man chorus, is the World Cup of Balinese dance. Many of the better hotels host pre- and après-dinner dance performances, but more authentic ones are held nightly (and alfresco) at Uluwatu Temple. Get there early to pick a seat facing west and watch the sun set behind the cliff-perching temple as the fires light up.
