Baie des Flamands
It’s a tough call, but Flamands gets our vote for the best beach on the island. It’s the longest walkable beach at nearly a half-mile long. The turquoise water is usually calm, and the sand is soft and seaweed-free. Several hotels and restaurants line the beach, so there are plenty of places to dine, but many just pack a picnic and sit on the sand. There is limited public parking outside the beach entrance and along the road that flanks Flamands; the Cheval Blanc hotel offers valet parking. There are no lifeguards on site.
