Auckland Art Gallery Toi O Tamaki
When an extension to this 1887 building was completed in 2011, Aucklanders finally had an artistic heart to call their very own. The addition to the French Chateau-style building engages visitors at its street entrance with a vaulted kauri canopy, said to represent the bicultural relationship of Maori and Pakeha. It’s a worthy asset to the city, its people, and the art it hosts. Inside, you can expand your cultural horizons further with both the permanent collection and rotating exhibits.
