New Zealanders are obsessed with their coffee—they’ll discuss it more readily than they’ll ever broach a conversation about politics. And while the country’s caffeine revolution started in Wellington (but that’s politics), Kokako is one of Auckland’s pioneering roasters of the green bean. They did organic and sustainable ahead of their time and, as a result, have grown exponentially. Their coffee bar (think nitro cold brew), and café is housed in the charming former post office of the inner-city suburb of Grey Lynn.
