The Ellis Hotel
This beautiful 1913 high-rise building, once home to Atlanta's soigné Winecoff Hotel, has been reinvented as a sleek, clean-lined boutique property. The 127 modern, neutral-toned guest rooms, while on the small side, are flooded with light from huge windows, and have limestone and granite bathrooms and cushy beds with pillow-top mattresses and ostrich-leather headboards. Extras include Ermenegildo Zegna bath products, rainfall showerheads, and mini-bars stocked with old-fashioned treats like Sugar Daddies and Pez dispensers. Common areas are similarly styled, with steel-and-leather seating and wall art from local painters. The CNN Center, Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium, and the New World of Coca-Cola are all walking distance from the hotel.
