Sullivan says her clients want to zig while other people zag, ditch bucket lists and Instagrams for human connection and personal growth. And she’s the one who can show you how. After cofounding her company, Mango Safaris, 20 years ago, she’s been jetting off to Africa every year. She spends at least one month vetting new properties, like Namibia's Hoanib Valley Camp, and visiting old favorites, like Sirikoi Lodge in Kenya. A few highlights from a recent trip to Rwanda include boating Lake Kivu, helicoptering around rainforests, and trekking to glimpse mountain gorillas and chimpanzees.
Mango Safaris is the only North American tour operator who’s worked with Wilderness Safaris and Bisate Lodge to reforest and increase the size of Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Sullivan and her team are also helping Wilderness open Magashi Camp in Rwanda.
