Yudin has been in the business for over two decades, moving to Israel from the U.S. in 1990 and starting out as a tour guide before founding his company Touring Israel in 1997. Today, he’s still on the ground leading tours, scouting new experiences, and curating itineraries based on client interests — a food walk in Machane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem, a contemporary art tour of Tel Aviv, paragliding over the Mediterranean town of Caesarea, or destination celebrations like weddings, birthdays, and Bar and Bat Mitzvahs.
Fluent in Hebrew, Yudin is currently working on his PhD in Israel studies and makes it a priority to help clients meet the locals — journalists, refugees, students, politicians — who shape Israel today. His itineraries can also incorporate other parts of the region, whether that be organizing a Bedouin-style camp in Jordan’s Wadi Rum or partnering with Palestinian guides for visits to Bethlehem and Jericho.
"What makes Joe so extraordinary is the breadth and depth of his knowledge on nearly every facet of Israeli life. He holds an encyclopedic knowledge of Israeli and Middle Eastern politics and history, and there was no question that he couldn't answer in a clear and intelligible way. He had a rolodex of restaurants suited for our family in each city for every meal, and while there was extensive planning beforehand, he continued to alter the itinerary based on our interests. His attention to the smallest details literally made us feel like royalty, as he has an ability to somehow make even the mundane turn magical. Joe’s guidance, intelligence and nurturing made the experience unforgettable. We were free from any travel headaches and were able to focus on enjoying one another and our trip. He is in equal parts a professor, a humorist, a babysitter, an adventurer, and a local celebrity." - Jennifer Friedland
