Chris Liebenberg

Chris Liebenberg may be based in San Diego, but he grew up in Namibia, working on wildlife reserves during his teenage years. Liebenberg’s love for his home continent has only grown over his years in the travel industry. The Southern Africa specialist is the founder of Safari Professionals of the Americas, and focuses on wildlife and conservation tourism at his company; his connections in the conservation world help clients get insider access to premier wildlife viewing, including private tours from experts like rhino trackers in Namibia’s Palmwag concession.

In addition to his own country, Liebenberg has extensive knowledge and connections in Southern and East Africa, visiting Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda in the past year alone. He can arrange informative, meaningful experiences in a variety of areas, whether you’d like to donate equipment to a wildlife conservancy, shadow an anti-poaching unit in the field, or tour vineyards with local winemakers.

"After an afternoon with Chris to discuss a safari, Piper & Heath developed the perfect itinerary for us to South Africa and Botswana. The selection of camps was perfect, and there was a mix of rustic and luxury accommodations and amenities. Each camp offered a different wildlife viewing experience — from the zebra migration at Jack's Camp to the Big 5 at Qorokwe — as well as various activities like horseback riding and touring by mokoro. Everything went smoothly and we always felt safe, comfortable, and in great hands. We highly recommend working with Chris for your travel to Africa. He will tailor the perfect safari for you." - Sandy Peretti
