This Portable Smart Speaker Is Lightweight and Water-resistant — and It’s Made My Quarantine So Much Easier
After spending the past few months stuck in the house, anything that upgrades my apartment and makes it a more comfortable environment to both live and work in is a welcome addition. Whether it’s an ergonomically designed laptop stand or a lumbar support pillow, I’ve specifically been investing in more functional pieces. And the one product that’s gotten the most use during my time at home has been the Bose Portable Smart Speaker.
I was lucky enough to receive one from the brand towards the beginning of quarantine and have been obsessed with it ever since. The handy gadget offers a 360-degree sound experience that provides amazing audio quality in every direction — meaning I can hear my music and podcasts clearly from every corner of the room.
Not only can I control the speaker from the Bose phone app, but because the smart device doubles as an Amazon Alexa speaker or Google Assistant speaker, I’m also able to activate it via voice control. It even boasts Bose SimpleSync technology so that I can easily sync the speaker to other Bose products to create a synchronized listening experience throughout my home.
The smart gadget weighs less than 3 pounds and has a durable handle that makes it super easy to move around. Plus, when it’s out of WiFi range, it converts into a Bluetooth speaker, so I can take it on the go. I’ve brought it on socially distanced picnics in the park with friends, and they all were amazed by its sound quality and portability. Even better, it’s water-resistant, so I would be comfortable bringing it to the beach or a pool.
And don’t just take it from me — hundreds of Amazon shoppers love the Bose Portable Speaker as well. “It is an amazing device, even by Bose standard. Outstanding sound quality, great functionality, full portability. Finally a speaker respectful of the music I listen to,” said one reviewer.
Many customers raved about the speaker’s powerful bass, while others said their favorite part was the device’s long battery life — which I can attest can last up to 12 hours at a time from a single charge. At $349 a speaker, it’s definitely an investment, but seeing as how it’s quickly become one of my quarantine essentials, I’d say it’s definitely worth the price.
