Checking in a suitcase always comes with a bit of anxiety — will it be there when I arrive? With all of its contents? One way to eliminate at least part of the worry is to take an additional step after packing: Secure the bag with luggage straps.

Whether you have softside or hardside suitcases, there’s always a possibility of a zipper or clasp breaking, especially when the bag is overpacked — and who doesn’t squeeze in the last item and then struggle to close the bag? Often, a bump or drop on a corner can strain the closure, even on quality luggage. A suitcase strap will keep the bag closed and the contents intact.

Colorful straps also make it easier to spot your bag on the carousel when you arrive. Some brands add extra security with a TSA-approved lock and identification tag. For just a few dollars spent on luggage straps and a few minutes to secure them, you can add some peace of mind to your travels.
