It might be a while before you can return to your favorite clothing stores, but that doesn't mean you have to stop shopping altogether. If you're in need of an upgrade for your work-from-home wardrobe or would simply like to support your favorite brands while you're stuck at home, Universal Standard's 1:1 virtual styling service is a great place to start.

The brand is making it easier than ever to shop from home with its complimentary virtual styling service. Universal Standard, known for its sleek line of basics in sizes ranging from 00 to 40, has always offered virtual styling appointments for customers who don't live near a physical retail location, but it has seen an uptick in appointments in recent weeks. Travel + Leisure spoke with Universal Standard co-founder and chief creative officer Alexandra Waldman about how to use virtual styling right now.

During a 30-minute appointment, which you can do via FaceTime, Google Hangouts, or phone, a stylist will help you with everything from questions about how Universal Standard items fit to general style advice. They can even help with complete wardrobe overhauls. Waldman emphasized that the service connects customers with a real stylist in real time, so "you don’t have to type all your questions, or deal with algorithms that don’t quite predict what you’re looking for."

"It’s a highly personal touch that helps take a lot of the anxiety out of shopping," she said. When it comes to finding the right size, Universal Standard has plenty of options, even when you can't physically try items on in-store. The site's See It in Your Size tool, for example, allows shoppers to view images of a model wearing an item in every size. "Our products are deceptively simple, but are extremely innovative in terms of design and fit. We don’t design using a formula, but rather, every piece is fitted on a model, which allows us to offer the widest size range in the world, 00 to 40," Waldman said.

We also asked Waldman about her favorite Universal Standard styles for working from home. "I’ve been staying comfy in our Next-to-naked Bodysuit. As its name implies, it feels like wearing nothing at all — just what I need when I’m spending long periods of time indoors. For days when I have video calls, I may be in our supremely soft Foundation Tee and denim. Yes, even our denim is comfortable enough to lounge in," she said.
