With massive store closures across the country, the retail industry is just one area that's been hurting due to the coronavirus outbreak. But some brands are taking steps not only to protect the physical health of their employees and customers, but also to brighten up our days in these uncertain times.

Swimwear brand Summersalt, known for its line of stylish, universally flattering suits, for example, has set up Joycast, a free text line dedicated to "spreading joy, creating connection, and inspiring hope." By texting JOYCAST to 24321, you can join in the fun and receive an inspiring text message within minutes. Some of the messages include meditation videos, simple self-care ideas, and cute animal GIFs. I decided to give it a try, so I texted the line and received a link to an Instagram video featuring a man on a balcony in Italy playing Imagine by John Lennon on the trumpet. Consider my day instantly brightened.

In an email to customers, Summersalt founders Lori Coulter and Reshma Chattaram Chamberlin emphasized the importance of sticking together during this time. "We are always here for you. And we hope, when you're able, you can pay a little joy forward — whether that means having a long FaceTime call with an old friend or checking in with your neighbors in need. After all, we're in this together."

And while you might not be getting into a new swimsuit anytime soon, Summersalt also offers a line of cozy loungewear that will get you through the coming weeks of working from home.
