There are few things in life more luxurious than a good hotel robe. The ideal hotel robe, in my semi-well-versed opinion, is simultaneously plush and light. A good robe shouldn’t weigh you down, but it also shouldn’t leave you wanting.

I’ve been on the hunt for a robe with that same balance — one that will make me feel like I’m still in a hotel room overlooking a far-flung city, rather than in my 700-square-foot Los Angeles apartment.

Finally, I took it upon myself to visit some of my favorite linen stores and actually try their robes to find which duplicated the feel of a light, plush hotel robe. From Natori to Brooklinen to Snowe, I browsed, sampled, and snuggled until I found a robe that suited my hotel robe tastes. It should be noted that the hotel robes that speak to my taste aren’t the uber-plush ones, because I find them too heavy. Unless I’m spending the weekend in Aspen, I want something with a little less heft that feels phenomenally soft.

The store I landed on with the best options was Parachute, which is of course known for its direct-to-consumer bedding. Parachute has really stepped up its robe and slippers game, and I was pleasantly surprised when trying on the cozy array. Of the robes currently offered, the major contenders for hotel-level comfort are the Classic Bathrobe, Cotton Cloud Robe, and Waffle Robe.

For me, the Classic Robe is perfectly plush, but the Waffle Robe is the clear winner in terms of bringing you to five-star hotel levels of luxury. Made from 100% Turkish cotton, it’s “inspired by the world’s finest spas” — and did I mention it's on sale?

Verified buyer Kristin B. recommended choosing a size up for that oversized hotel-life fit. “This robe is the perfect weight. I sized up for a more cozy fit,” she wrote.

If you’re fully committed to the robe-and-slippers life, the Quilted Slippers have that same lush, hotel-grade comfort.
