My family loves to ski, and even that feels like a colossal understatement. We have to be the first and last ones on the mountain, and almost every Harris family vacation takes place somewhere snowy. Most recently, we moved to Park City, Utah because it’s home to America’s largest ski resort as well as some of the lightest, fluffiest powder in the world.
I took to the family sport at the age of 2, chanting “faster, Mommy, faster,” as my mom guided me down my first ski run. So as you might imagine, I’ve tried my fair share of ski equipment and clothing through the years. Now that I live just 10 minutes from the slopes, my ski clothes are getting more mileage than ever before. That’s how I discovered that the Darn Tough Yeti Over-the-Calf Light Socks are the best ski socks of all time.
I could tell just by looking at them that these Darn Tough Yeti ski socks had that “cool girl who loves to shred” factor. They’re glacier-themed with mountain and gondola graphics, which is pretty much the pinnacle of après-ski fashion if you ask me. Because I’m clocking in so many ski days this winter, I have an overflowing drawer of ski socks, and these ones are by far the cutest. I used to think ski socks were purely utilitarian and for the slopes, but these spirited socks grace my feet even when I’m relaxing in front of the fireplace.
Of course, looks aren’t everything: I need my ski socks to keep my feet comfortably warm as I tuck, jump, and carve down the mountain for hours at a time. These socks accomplish all of that and more. They’re breathable and moisture-wicking to support my most intense ski days, and they’re lightweight enough to slide seamlessly under my leggings and ski boots. Made with a merino wool, nylon, and spandex blend, the socks feel extra smooth against my skin. They’re much less bulky than my other pairs, and they’re so comfortable that I forget I’m wearing them.
My favorite feature of the Darn Tough ski socks is that they’re the ideal height for blocking out snow and wind chill, hitting just below my knee. They have a performance fit that’s slip-, bunch-, and blister-resistant, so I don’t have to fidget with them at all. I own the socks in a size large, and they fit my strong runner’s calves and size 9 feet perfectly. While these socks fit true-to-size, I definitely recommend sizing up to enhance comfort.
Best part is, these socks are equipped with thermo-regulated properties that keep me cozy in sub-freezing temperatures, so I can wear them while cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, too. My mom and sister (who have been skiing for a combined 81 years) also swear by the comfy socks, as do dozens of enthusiastic Amazon shoppers.
“Darn Tough makes the best socks. Period,” a five-star reviewer raved. “They have a ridiculous lifetime guarantee, but you probably won’t need it because their socks live up to the name. I bought my first pair nearly a decade ago and they’re still going strong. Design is fun and the quality is what I’ve come to expect from Darn Tough.”
If you’re looking for a pair of ski socks that are warm, lightweight, and super cute to boot, the Darn Tough Yeti Over-the-Calf Light Socks are for you. You can buy them on Amazon for $25 in time for your next ski day. And if you’re anything like me (or my family), you’re going to want to fill your whole sock drawer with them after feeling how comfortable they are.
