Allbirds is well-known for its comfortable, versatile sneakers, and over the past few years, we've gotten to know the brand better through its new launches — from ballet flats to slippers to a water-resistant version of the classic runner. Now, Allbirds is back with another new launch, the Wool Piper, a twist on the classic cup sole shoe.

The Wool Piper is available for both men and women in five colors. It features Allbirds' signature sustainably sourced Merino wool and ultra-cushioned foam sole. Plus, the shoes are machine washable, making them an impressively versatile addition to your wardrobe. Four of our travel editors here at T+L put these sneakers to the test, and they weren't disappointed.

"If I were to use one word to review the new Allbirds Wool Pipers, it would be 'done.' As in, my longtime search for a comfortable, casual shoe is complete.

From the minute I put them on, my feet felt as though they were encased in clouds. There was no break-in period — for the past week I've been walking the dog, strolling through Prospect Park, and high-tailing it to the grocery store minutes before closing (ice cream run) without a single twinge or pinch. The style is simple, combining the best of minimalist and retro aesthetics. And while my pair has a Dapple Grey colorway that goes with everything, I might just treat myself to a second pair in jazzy Garden Blue."

"Nothing sells me more than comfort especially if there is not a sacrifice of fashion. I knew Allbirds were comfortable, but I have been hesitant to go all in on a pair because their styles have previously always leaned more athletic than casual lifestyle for my tastes. The Wool Piper gives me the style I look for in a casual sneaker, one that can be dressed up and dressed down, while delivering that sweet soft cloud feeling of walking on air. The wool fabric keeps my feet super warm (socks optional) and cozy while enjoying the crisp fall weather and this light cream color easily pairs with every outfit. As far as my comfort shoe of choice, I'll take these Allbirds while you can have your Crocs."

"I'm a flat shoes die-hard, but I've always had a hard time finding a pair of sneakers that I could wear all day right of the box without getting annoyed. (Most feel oddly confining and rigid to me.) When I laced up Allbirds new Wool Piper low-tops, my feet immediately felt well-supported — there's enough cushioning to absorb the impact from the ground, but not so much that the shoes feel heavy or clunky. The moisture-wicking merino uppers on the pair I tried have a gorgeous, gently-dappled grey texture looks very fall-appropriate."

"As soon as I slipped on a pair of the new Wool Pipers they felt great. The super lightweight shoe is plenty roomy for my wide feet, the soles are cushiony, and the silhouette is really one of the best that Allbirds have released so far. This new low-cut shape works with whatever you choose to wear — a dress, cropped pants, jeans, or leggings — and the style is a bit more dressed up than the original runners so I would definitely wear these with a nicer outfit. In fact, when I wore them out to a park hang over the weekend with a pair of tailored slacks, I immediately got complimented on them! The only gripe I have so far, although it may get better the more I break in the shoes, is the plastic tab on the back of the ankle. When I walked I could feel it dig into my achilles heel just ever so slightly."
