I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 42 years. I just love to wander down Fifth Avenue: there’s Museum Mile, with the Metropolitan Museum of Art; there’s Central Park; there’s the New York Public Library. It’s just delightful. But if I’m going to shop, I like my Bloomingdales. They have a lot of sales; the 20 percent off and the 30 percent off and the 40 percent off all add up.New York City's Street Fashion

Ah, the infamous scarf. Chuck Bass wore it in Gossip Girl, so everyone comments on it, but I have to say I had it before the show. I got it at J. Press, one of my favorite men’s stores in all of New York. It’s great quality clothing, very old school, and less expensive than Brooks Brothers or Hickey Freeman.New York City's Street Fashion

Any flea market—that’s where I like to shop. My cross is from the Victorian era; I found it one weekend at the Antiques Garage, in Chelsea. Another place I like on the weekends is Café Sabarsky, in the Neue Galerie. Sometimes I go to see the collection of German and Austrian art, but usually I just sit in the café with a Viennese coffee to people watch and sketch.New York City's Street Fashion

These days Banana Republic is my biggest go-to—I got both my sweater and my pants there. And if I want a good feel for what everyone’s doing, I’ll go to Macy’s. My favorite thing to do at night?I’m partial to Joe’s Pub. It’s a very chill, intimate bar and music space, and the concert prices are never out of control.New York City's Street Fashion

I love vintage clothing—everything has a bit of history in it. The dress is lace, from the 20s; I bought it at the Pier Antiques Show (next show March 14–15), which they do twice a year. I’m also a museum person. My favorite is the Museum at FIT. Their Goth exhibit is wonderful, and free of charge. Must be seen.New York City's Street Fashion

I don’t like to be serious. Fashion has to be fun. My shorts are men’s Navy panties from the 30s I think. I got them at the Amarcord store in SoHo. The owners mostly buy in Italy, so they carry a lot of small Italian brands from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.New York City's Street Fashion

I always try to hit up the designer sample sales—they’re all over the city, all of the time. And the Uniqlo store is awesome. They have these crazy Kid Robot toys, and then they also have really good basics—cardigans and stuff like that. I love their Japanese animation shirts.New York City's Street Fashion

I got my suspenders in the West Village at Star Struck Vintage Clothing. It has a range of men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, and is an excellent deal. On weekends I like to go look and see what finds me at the Annex Hells Kitchen Flea Market, but right now I’m going to get lunch. There’s this little Venezualan place in the East Village called Caracas.

I’m a big fan of Zara for basics, like my jeans. What do I like to do during the day?Well this winter I’m getting a little group together to go ice-skating in Bryant Park. It’s free. There’s also a great Off-Broadway show, Rock of Ages. All of these old Journey songs are tied into the story—it’s amazing. You can go to a TKTS booth (various locations; tdf.org) the day of the show to get discount tickets.New York City's Street Fashion

You can spend a whole afternoon going to art galleries in Chelsea without spending a dime, and have the best time. I always go to PPOW —they have some really imaginative stuff from some of my favorite neo-surrealists. My jacket?I got it at H&M (various locations; hm.com), and then I got it tailored—the fit makes such a big difference. It probably cost me only $50 total, after the adjustments.New York City's Street Fashion
