Trend Watch: Hospitality Brands are Teaming Up With Eyewear Designers
A traveler is never fully dressed without a great pair of sunglasses. That’s why these three hot spots are bringing the lenses to their guests with creative eyewear collaborations.
For the W Paris – Opèra, French-designer Thierry Lasry updated two of his classic shades to create limited-edition frames that play off elements of the hotel—gold sparkles on the women’s pair mimic a motif seen throughout the property, while its Haussmann-style façade lends inspiration to the men’s frame.
Taking their collaboration one step further, the W Paris - Opèra is offering a Thierry Lasry package for those guests who prefer their presidential suite to come with two pairs of handmade sunspecs. Better still, the bar offers a cocktail of St. Germain liqueur, champagne, tonic water, and grapefruit bitters called the “Sexxxy by Thierry Lasry,” named after the women’s style.
At the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, the recently updated Indigo Pool & Bar called upon a fellow Southern California brand to outfit its squinting swimmers. Oliver Peoples has set up a pop-up shop and sunglass concierge at the adults-only oasis. Not only can sunbathers purchase frames poolside, but they can also partake in a complimentary on-the-sport cleaning, tightening, and caring service.
When spending golden hour sipping cocktails perched 30 stories above Manhattan, sunglasses aren’t just a fashion accessory, they’re a necessity. That’s why rooftop lounge The Skylark has added a new a page to their menu: eyewear by Wild Soul. Patrons can order frames to try on, and a waiter will bring them over with their Grilled Pineapple Swizzle or Ginger Sazerac.
