Traveling in sweats is acceptable when they look like this.
By the time designers realized today’s on-the-go woman wanted loungewear she could wear outside of her home, Olivia von Halle was already ahead of the game.
Von Halle has been designing luxury loungewear since 2011, when she set out to reinvent the pajama market long before pajama dressing started trending. As silk sets and slip dresses emerged on the runways and robes became casual daywear, her luxe collection immediately began to blur the line between loungewear and ready-to-wear.
Like the woman for whom she designs, Von Halle is constantly traveling, which piqued her desire to upgrade another familiar loungewear piece that would take her from the plane to a campaign shoot without compromising comfort or elegance: the tracksuit.
You may have seen tracksuits all over the runways last season, but as a pioneer in the luxury loungewear market (and a former trend forecaster), Von Halle had already been working on perfecting her tracksuit for more than two years — and perfect she did.
Last spring, she launched three colors of the Missy Tracksuit and named them each after a global city: The Missy New York in navy, The Missy Moscow in white, and The Missy London in gray. They soon became favorites among celebrities like Gigi and Bella Hadid and Jennifer Lopez.
In order to elevate a habitually humbling piece of loungewear to an aspirational must-have, she applied the same high level of quality she does to her sleepwear. In her first foray into the knitwear market, blending cashmere and silk, she designed a tracksuit sure to become the ultimate travel piece. It’s breathable, pill-resistant, and incredibly cozy. We officially take back everything we’ve said about not traveling in sweats.
And this week, Von Halle launched The Missy Kingston: a fun black set with Jamaica’s iconic red, yellow, and green stripes. Our advice? Get it before Rihanna beats you to it.
