The sun and I have a love-hate relationship. I absolutely love the outdoors, to be in natural sunlight and breathe fresh air—both daymakers if you live in a place like New York City. But my skin (especially my nose and cheeks) hate the sun. No matter how much sunblock I slather on, at the end of a beach day my face transforms into a cherry tomato. So now as a rule during the summer, I never leave home without wearing a sun hat (and SPF, of course).
Whether your skin easily burns or not, there is no doubt that you need to protect you face and eyes from the bright summer sun and a hat is the perfect way to shield yourself, while also looking très chic. Wear them to the beach, park, the pool, or even on your day of exploring a new city!
There is a different style of sun hat for every personality type. The person with a vintage flair can always count on a Panama hat; a floppy hat is more for those who want a classic beach look; a fedora for those looking for protection but don’t like a wide brim; and visors, which are the perfect option for the ponytail fans. If you're looking to steer clear of straw hats, a cloth or canvas sun hat that can make just as much of a statement.
Whatever your style may be, we've found the cutest sun hats for everyone to wear this summer. Read on for our favorites.
