In case you haven’t heard of the ultra-comfortable, machine-washable wool sneakers by Allbirds that even former president Barack Obama has been spotted wearing, get ready to have a new favorite go-to comfy shoe brand. In June, the cult-favorite company Allbirds launched a brand new style: the Tree Breezer ballet flat.

While Allbirds offers a collection of unisex sneakers and loungers, this is the first time the company has released a style specifically designed for women. Since the brand’s launch in March 2016, customers have inundated the company with comments and emails asking to make a few changes, including new shoe colors and even packaging suggestions. But the one request made on repeat was for a shoe with a feminine yet formal silhouette that could be worn during the work week.

And from the customer feedback, a take on the old-school ballet flat was born. While some traditional ballet flats can be stiff and restrictive, the Tree Breezers have special green EVA SweetFoam soles that are made from a material derived from sugarcane, which is naturally bouncy, flexible, and comfortable. Plus, like the best-selling wool sneakers, this new flat is also machine-washable, making it our new favorite shoe for traveling. Comfortable, stylish, and easy to clean up — what more could you want?

The new Allbirds Breezer is the latest addition to the Tree styles, a special collection that’s not only super soft and breathable, but made from a naturally derived, renewable material that’s easier on the environment than other shoe fabrics.

As of today, the Tree Breezers are restocked to shop for $95 online in both Marine blue and Seashell gray. Shop the lightweight flats we'll be packing for every summer trip below.
