In Photos: Elvis Impersonators Take a Birthday Train Ride
Music legend Elvis Presley would have been 81 today, but instead of celebrating “The Pelvis’s” birthday with a good ol' peanut butter-and-banana sandwich like the rest of us, hundreds of Australian impersonators opted to honor the holiday instead with a six-hour train ride that was fit for, well, the King.
The journey to the five-day 24th-annual Parkes Elvis Festival in rural New South Wales, is as much a part of the event as the official program (which features live entertainment, a busking contest, and an edible Elvis art competition) and Australian tribute acts of all shapes and sizes hop aboard, ready for singing competitions and camaraderie, decked out in pomadores and polyester.
The ride was sold out (and has long left the building), but we have your ticket right here. Onward for photos from this year's Elvis Express.
