There are destinations that have a type of beauty that sparks a near universal thirst for adventure. The Amalfi Coast is one of those places, among the ranks of Santorini, Alaska, and Iceland. Easily one of Italy's most famed destinations, the 31-mile stretch of beautiful blue views has graced countless Instagram feeds. Stunning cliffs, pristine beaches, rolling roads, white-washed homes, the scent of lemon groves — have we hooked you yet?
The region attracts thousands of travelers every year. In 1997, the Amalfi Coast was officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Warm summers and mild winters make this a much-desired vacation destination. Hop in a car, and you'll pass through 13 different villages and towns between Vietri sul Mare and Positano. Once you're on the road, the pastel churches and villas just don't stop. Those who have been can only attest to its immediate intrigue. The food doesn't get fresher, the views don't get more scenic, and the air doesn't get any more sea-kissed. It would be silly to rush such an experience.
The area is known for its limoncello — an easy assumption, once you catch a glance at the lemon grove-spotted valleys. And taking in such sights is easy. You can drive along the Amalfi Coast's main road, Strada Statale, or you can hop in one of the local (and readily available) ferries or boat excursions.
The sad truth is that not all of us can jump on a plane for an impromptu Italian getaway. That's where we come in. We've pulled together some of the most wanderlust-inspiring photos of the Amalfi Coast that we could find. Why? Because we all deserve a little daydream motivation. Dive in.
