Our nation’s capital is constantly evolving and reinventing itself, offering residents and visitors a steady stream of new restaurants, museums, events, and hotels. And the latest example of our capital’s thriving hospitality scene and modern spirit is Pendry Washington DC—The Wharf, which officially opens tomorrow, Oct. 26. Overlooking the Potomac River in D.C.’s trendiest waterfront district, the Wharf, the sleek glass-wrapped property features 131 guest rooms and suites, three food-and-beverage concepts, and a rooftop lounge, a pool, and a spa, among other offerings. Courtesy of Christian Horan Photography “Washington, D.C. is an important, culturally rich city that we have admired and frequented for years,” Michael Fuerstman, co-founder of Pendry Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement released to Travel + Leisure. “We are honored to contribute to the city’s cultural fabric with bold architecture and design, exciting new culinary and entertainment offerings, and our style of luxury hospitality in an incredible waterfront setting.” Most rooms boasts floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Potomac River and nearby attractions such as the Jefferson Memorial and the Tidal Basin, where D.C.’s annual Cherry Blossom festival is held. The timeless interiors feature comfortable king-size beds with leather upholstered headboards, sleek nightstands, a soothing color palette, and natural materials striking the right balance between contemporary and cozy. Bathrooms are clad in luxury marble and have spacious walk-in showers and MiN New York toiletries. The hotel’s version of a classic lobby bar is the ultra-chic Bar Pendry. Rich velvet upholstery in dark blues, brushed bronze details, and vintage décor create an intimate vibe reminiscent of Europe’s grand hotel bars, and expert bartenders specialize in crafting unique concoctions. On the second floor is Flora Flora, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner inspired by the cuisines of Mexico and Peru. Along with small plates prepared with local ingredients and served in a bright, light-filled dining room with plenty of greenery, it also offers stunning river vistas and access to the hotel’s pool and deck. And lastly, Moonraker, Pendry’s sophisticated rooftop restaurant and bar is anchored by a spectacular circular bar with a striking light installation above it and jaw-dropping waterfront views. The Japanese-inspired menu features light bites, sushi rolls, and a curated selection of whisky and cocktails. Another option is the property’s fully equipped gym open 24 hours. You can now book your stay at Pendry Washington DC—The Wharf, where nightly rates start at $355. Was this page helpful?
