Move over, Miami–Naples is having a moment. And while this southwest Florida city is a fraction of the size of the metropolis across the state, Naples offers outsized luxury options when it comes to staying and eating, both on and off the beach.

Pristine beaches, preserves, and parks thick with mangroves and sea grapes lend true natural appeal to the tony town, where an escape into nature is as close at hand as a Negroni or cappuccino in a European cafe.

Many of the properties we’re highlighting give you coveted access to Naples’ best beaches, where parking is perpetually at a premium. But you’ll also find boutique inns and hotels in this mix for a more city-oriented stay close to all the retail and dining delights along Fifth Avenue (Naples’ answer to Palm Beach’s Worth Avenue). Whichever hotel you choose, get ready for a memorable stay.

Hotel Description

Naples has some of Florida’s most incredible beaches. But with limited parking along the coast and few access points to the beach between the many condominiums lining it, snagging a spot on the sand isn’t always easy here. When you stay at LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort, however, you’re gulf front on one of Naples’ least-crowded stretches of beach; the hotel’s Beach Club is at the ready with umbrella-shaded lounges for whiling away the day.

There are four onsite outdoor swimming pools lined with cabanas and flowering plants, including a quiet pool designed just for adults. Decorative koi ponds keep kids busy feeding the resident fish. It’s worth splurging on a beachfront room, as you’ll feel like you’re suspended right over the powdery sands, with a spacious balcony ideal for sipping a morning coffee or watching the sunset from above.

BALEEN restaurant, where outdoor tables overlook the beach, is Naples’ hottest ticket for indulging in fresh Gulf of Mexico seafood (grouper is always a winner) served up with spectacular sunsets. Tables right on the sand can even be arranged if you want a close- view of the water and passing dolphins. Daily fitness classes (yoga, cardio, HIIT and others) are included with your resort fee and the hotel’s SpaTerre offers Balinese massages and Japanese bathing rituals in addition to standard treatments. Golfers can drive 10 minutes to reach the hotel’s private club and course, which winds through a lush landscape dotted with 14 lakes.

Final Verdict

Whether you’re looking to stay in the ultimate gulf-front beach palace of a hotel or prefer something more urban and boutique-minded within walking distance of great dining and shops, Naples is a quintessential coastal town with numerous options. You can narrow down the choices by deciding how important it is for you to stay steps from the sand and have an ocean view. Then consider if you prefer a more family-focused Naples resort, something to cater to the golfer in your crew, or a property with plenty of grown-up options in mix. Our best overall pick goes to LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort for its second-to-none beachfront setting, sophisticated seafood restaurant for sunset, onsite spa and access to golf, paddleboarding, boating and other activities.

Know Before You Go

  • Naples has a lack of public parking along its largely residential beachfront. So if easy, assured access to the beach every day is a priority, book a gulf-front hotel.
  • The Atlantic hurricane season, which can affect Naples, runs from June 1 to the end of November.
  • Renting a bicycle is a great way to explore the beach area and Fifth Avenue. Many hotels will have them either included in the resort fee or for rent–or they can direct you to delivery services that will drop off some wheels.

How We Chose These Hotels

We evaluated over two dozen of the best hotels in Naples before choosing the options on this list. We considered elements like the property’s reputation and quality of service, design and architecture, location on the beach or in town, and notable amenities (e.g., complimentary bike use, swimming pools, beach chairs and umbrellas, etc.). We also reviewed each property’s dining options, whether there is a spa on-site, and the types of experiences both onsite and nearby that are available to guests. In determining this list, we evaluated numerous customer reviews and considered whether the property has collected any accolades in recent years.
