If you’ve ever dreamt of becoming a hotelier now’s your chance. All you have to do is write a killer essay and you’re in.

The Harbor Watch Inn, located six miles off the coast on Swan Island in Maine, is looking for a new owner. However, rather than sell the inn to just anyone Dale Joyce, the current owner of the inn and descendant of the original Swan Island settlers, decided he’d rather give it to someone who feels passionate about preserving its legacy. So, he’s holding an essay contest to ensure the hotel goes to someone who can pour their heart and soul into it and may not have the financial backing to purchase the property outright.

"We have loved our time as stewards of this inn, but we're equally excited to introduce a new owner to the hospitality of this amazing island,” he shared in a statement.

All entrants have to do is answer a few questions and write a 350-word essay explaining why this quaint hotel would fulfill their dreams and why they think they would be a successful owner. The winner will receive the keys to the already profitable business as well as $25,000 in operating funds.

Though really, the new owners shouldn’t have any trouble getting customers considering Harbor Watch Inn is the only hotel on the tiny island. And, for anyone wondering, it comes with just four units to take care of, including two with full kitchens and balconies overlooking the gorgeous island harbor.

Though living on an island in Maine with just a few hundred residents may sound isolating it’s okay as there is also a regular ferry service to and from the mainland any time you need a break.

Entrants have up until March 31, 2020 to enter and cost just $99 per submission. Those interested can enter as many times as they’d like and the winner will be announced in May.
