Want an extra $10,000? If you work remotely, you don’t have to wait for that next big promotion or play the lottery — all it takes is a move to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

For the second year in a row, the talent recruitment initiative Tulsa Remote is hoping to bring remote workers to the city by offering selected applicants a $10,000 grant. And that’s not all — the program also provides remote workers with a coworking space and assistance finding housing.

In its first year, Tulsa Remote selected 100 remote workers from more than 10,000 applications from over 150 countries. For 2020, the program is almost tripling in size — selecting between 250 and 300 people.

“Our mission has always been to attract talented and diverse individuals from across the country to Tulsa and get them connected to the incredible existing community,” said Tulsa Remote Executive Director Aaron Bolzle in a statement. “The participants from this year have blown away our expectations and we're extremely excited to bring in another group of passionate people to Tulsa in our next year of the program.”

The application process for 2020 opens on Oct. 29. To apply, you must be able to legally work in the U.S., have consistent income from a business based outside of Oklahoma, be at least 18 years old, and commit to living in Tulsa for at least one year. The $10,000 grant is distributed over the course of the year and is funded exclusively by the George Kaiser Family Foundation.

If you haven’t pinned down a remote job yet, don’t worry. The city’s brand new Holberton School — a two-year private software engineering school — is offering students need-based living assistance of up to $1,500 per month to help cover expenses and students don’t have to pay for school until they get a job that pays more than $40,000 a year, according to TechCrunch.

And with almost 12,000 remote software engineering jobs currently available on Remote OK, that dreamy remote gig and $10,000 doesn’t look so far off.
