In December, the hotel company announced more of its massive expansion plan, with seven hotels slated for opening throughout 2021.“I’ve always been committed to being involved in special projects on a global scale that go to places that no one has been before,” hotelier Ian Schrager shared in a statement. “I’m thrilled to work in partnership with Marriott and the opportunity to see these hotels come to life across the world is a dream come true. Seven is the lucky number, I look forward to 2021 being our best year yet.” According to Edition, the new openings include sites in Rome, Madrid, Dubai, Reykjavik, Tampa, Mexico’s Riviera Maya at Kanai, and its second property in Tokyo. “With 11 hotels worldwide currently, 2021 will underscore the brand’s exponential growth with a total of 18 properties globally,” the hotel shared in a statement, adding, “Edition Hotels ongoing expansion includes many further sites expected to open in 2022 and beyond.” Check out a few tidbits about each new location and opening dates below. The Reykjavik EDITION Launching summer 2021 The Reykjavik Edition, located next to the Harpa Concert Hall, will offer 253 rooms and suites, along with a rooftop area for guests, a nightlife space, and a ballroom. The hotel will also come with a signature restaurant, destination bar, and cafe serving up local favorites. The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza Launching fall 2021 The Tokyo Edition, Ginza, situated just off Chuo Street, will include 78 guestrooms and suites and three food and beverage destinations including a rooftop bar, along with a meeting studio, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. The Rome EDITION Launching fall 2021 The company’s first Italian property will feature 95 guest rooms and suites including a penthouse suite with a private 1,300-square-foot terrace. The Rome Edition will offer a signature restaurant with outdoor dining space, a Punch Room Bar, and a rooftop terrace where guests can have the choice of a seasonal bite, a drink overlooking the city, a private gathering with friends, or all of the above. The Madrid EDITION Launching fall 2021 The Madrid Edition will showcase 200 guest rooms and suites (some with terraces) and five unique food and beverage outlets, including a signature restaurant, cocktail bar, Sky Bar, and rooftop terrace. The Dubai EDITION Launching fall 2021 The Dubai Edition, located in downtown Dubai, will come with 210 rooms and suites. The property will also be home to three food and beverage outlets, a pool, spa, and fitness center, in addition to events spaces, multiple meeting rooms, and a ballroom. The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai Launching winter 2021 The beachfront Riviera Maya Edition at Kanai is expected to open in winter 2021. The hotel will come with 180 guestrooms and suites, six food and beverage outlets including a signature restaurant, pool bar, and beach club. The Tampa EDITION Launching winter 2021 The Tampa Edition will become the fifth U.S. property for the band. It will come with 172 guest rooms and suites, and six food and beverage outlets including a signature restaurant, rooftop bar, and terrace. According to the brand, the property is currently being designed by acclaimed New York-based architecture practice Morris Adjmi in collaboration with the Florida-based firm Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates. Its interiors are being designed by the renowned Roman & Williams, while the whole project will be under the creative vision of Ian Schrager and Ian Schrager Company.
