If you haven't seen the resort in person you've probably seen it on TV recently.

Mohonk Mountain House

Sure, we may not have royalty in America, but we sure do have some amazing castles fit for a king and queen — and Mohonk Mountain House as the prime example.

Tucked away in the Hudson Valley, just a few hours outside of New York City, travelers can find Mohonk Mountain House, a castle-like resort that first opened its doors in 1869 and has been happily welcoming guests ever since. Until coronavirus hit, that is. But, as the property shared with Travel + Leisure, it plans to re-open its doors on June 15 so we can all feel like members of the monarchy once again. Guests of the hotel may even rub elbow’s with American royalty, as the property has hosted five U.S. presidents and has more celebrities than we could rattle off here.

Showtime

Want a peek at the property before booking a stay? That’s easy as it’s quite the Hollywood darling, appearing in a recent episode of Showtime’s Billions and serving as the backdrop for Amazon Prime’s newest show Upload.

But, the spot is popular for more than its glamorous looks. It’s also got some of the coolest activities and amenities around. That includes absolutely divine meals, which are included for overnight guests of the resort. (Yes, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even afternoon tea.)

The hotel also offers unlimited activities. And when they say unlimited, they mean it. On site, guests can take part in everything from archery and tomahawk throwing to fishing on Lake Mohonk and golfing with complimentary greens fees. Guests can play tennis, head out on the complimentary disc golf course, play a few lawn games such as croquet, bocce, and outdoor shuffleboard, and even access the hotel’s private beach.

But, one place that cannot be missed is the hotel’s world-class spa, which the resort is planning to reopen in the weeks following June 15. At the spa, guests can partake in a number of treatments, including its signature Shawangunk Grit Mineral Body Treatment. The 80-minute experience begins with a soak in the tub followed by an exfoliation with “Shawangunk Grit,” fine quartz quarried from the resort’s very own cliffs, then of course, ends with a relaxing massage.

Just think, all this can be yours once again in just a few weeks. Sorry though, no tiara included.
