Hotel 71 — Quebec City, Quebec

Tucked away in Le Petit Champlain section of Quebec City, Hotel 71 is a sleek, sophisticated, modern hotel with so much charm you’re not sure how it could actually be modern. This hotel also has a not-so-hidden secret for wine lovers. In the lobby, it has a wine vending machine: You select your wine through the machine and receive a generous pour.

The Stafford London — London, England

Home to a wine cellar built in the 17th century by Lord Francis Godolphin, the cellar at The Stafford London now contains more than 8,000 bottles wine. Master Sommelier, Gino Nardella, hosts wine tastings and wine-pairing dinners throughout the year. A candlelit tour takes guests through the entire collection.

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island — The Maldives

A bucket list item for many, the Maldives now offers another reason to find your way there: a subterranean wine cellar. Featured at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, the wine cellar has more than 20,000 bottles of wine and up to 1,400 labels – the most in the Maldives. Here, you can sit with up to 12 guests as you’re guided by the head sommelier on an interactive journey, presented on personal video screens, through the old and new world wine regions. There is also a blind tasting of three of the wines during the main course.

The Confidante — Miami Beach, Miami

Park Hotel Vitznau — Vitznau, Switzerland

The Park Hotel Vitznau in Vitznau, Switzerland has not one, but six wine cellars housing more than 30,000 bottles of wine in a museum-style. The French wines feel right at home stored on stone shelves behind Bathalzar and Salmanazar bottles with wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy. Old World wines - maturing in wooden pentagonal wine racks. Dating from 1811, the oldest wine is stored in a golden casket. The hotel has an array of New World wines as well from countries including Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Germany.

Grand Velas Los Cabos — Los Cabos, Mexico

Even though it isn’t within Mexico’s wine country, the Grand Velas Los Cabos resort offers an ultimate wine retreat. The experience features wine spa treatments, Michelin-star dining in the middle of a vineyard, and private jet transportation to Ensenada to Baja California’s top wineries for special wine tastings and to make one’s own vintage.

The Yeatman — Porto, Portugal

Portugal’s wine country, the Douro Valley, is two hours away from this Porto-based resort, but that doesn’t mean that there is any less of an emphasis on the wine culture. The Yeatman has more than 20,000 bottles of wine in its cellar, wine flights paired with Portuguese bites available at its on-site restaurants, and personalized wine classes. If you get tired of sipping, you can take a break at the Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa. Each of The Yeatman’s 82 rooms has a wine sponsor, while Master Suite 008 is designed with a wine-barrel bed.

The hotel has an Old-meets-New-World wine list and gives personalized wine-pairing dinners on the beach. All of the bungalows are stocked with a selection of wines.

Sheen Falls Lodge — Kenmare, Ireland

One of Ireland’s largest public collections of wine (more than 10,000 bottles from 18 countries!) is housed at Sheen Falls Lodge in Kenmare. If you’re interested in taking a longer vacation, the hotel offers a three-weekend wine course that is designed to help you make the most of your wine drinking experience. (Attending all three is not the only option, however, you can attend just one.) You can also choose to select your own wine from the cellar to accompany your meal or you can head down there for a private reception, after-dinner port or whiskey tastings, and small private dinners.
