Equinox to Launch Hotel Brand with a Focus on Fitness Away From Home
Looks like Leonardo DiCaprio’s private-island-turned-eco-resort isn’t the only unexpected hotel opening we can look forward to in 2018. Riding the wake of the ever-growing vacation fitness trend, high-end gym giant Equinox is launching a luxury hospitality brand, one that naturally has a ultra-cool fitness focus. Its first hotel is set to open in New York City’s Hudson Yards development sometime in 2018, with a second Los Angeles location penciled in for 2019—but those are only two of what the brand hopes will become a nationwide sensation.
The fitness giant plans to eventually match its hotel count with its number of gym locations—currently 77. Not every location will have an on-site gym; some hotels will offer guests access to neighborhood locations. That being said, the first build will be home to the largest Equinox gym to date, measuring 60,000 square feet. In addition to this super gym, guests will also have access to indoor and outdoor pools.
