The Rockefeller Center tree lighting is a New York City tradition that has been around for over 80 years, bringing both residents and tourists together to kick off the holiday season.

This year's event will take place Nov. 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. EST, and Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, and Hoda Kotb will host.

Neil Diamond, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Kelly, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, Dolly Parton, Tony Bennett, Josh Groban, Jordan Smith and the Radio City Rockettes are set to perform, according to Time Out New York. The event usually features a few surprise guest appearances from celebrities as well.

The 2016 spruce comes from a backyard in Oneonta, upstate New York. More than 50,000 lights and a Swarovski star will decorate the tree.

So grab a cup of hot cocoa and snuggle up far from the Manhattan crowds.
