Frontier Is Expanding With 10 New Routes From Phoenix — and Is Celebrating With a $19 Flight Sale

Frontier Airlines is adding 10 new direct routes from Phoenix, connecting the Arizona city to popular destinations throughout the country — and celebrating with flights starting as low as $19. 

The carrier will add nonstop service from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Philadelphia, Baltimore-Washington, Orange County in California, Portland in Oregon, and Fort Lauderdale starting in November 2022. Then in January 2023, the airline will add service to Seattle, Minneapolis, Nashville, Indianapolis, and Kansas City, according to Frontier.

The new flights will nearly double Frontier’s presence in Phoenix with the airline serving 22 destinations from the city.

“This major expansion of service from PHX solidifies Frontier’s place as one of Phoenix’s largest airlines,” Barry Biffle, the president and CEO of Frontier Airlines, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to offer these new routes serving some of the most popular destinations in America. Our commitment to future growth at PHX is strong as we prepare to open our new crew base in November and introduce this expanded array of convenient, affordable flight options for Phoenix-area consumers.”

To celebrate the new routes, Frontier is offering fares starting as low as $19. To take advantage, travelers must book by 11:59 p.m. ET on Aug. 30. Travel is valid through Feb. 2, 2023, for flights that take off in November, and valid through Mar. 2, 2023, for flights that take off in January. Several blackout dates apply, including around Thanksgiving and during the week between Christmas and New Year’s.

The new route announcement comes on the heels of Frontier’s plans to launch several new domestic and international routes from Atlanta, Denver, and Orlando in November and December.

Frontier, which recently terminated its deal to buy fellow low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines, offers unbundled fares in which customers must pay for everything from baggage to seat selection. Earlier this year, Frontier reduced the weight limit for checked bags on its flights to a maximum of 40 pounds.
