Put another destination on your bucket list, wine lovers.

One of the best-kept secrets in Italy, the Franciacorta Wine Festival, is celebrating its 50th anniversary of DOC designation this September — and the festival will be bigger and better than ever.

This year, from September 16 and 17, the under-the-radar festival will focus on its past, present and future, celebrating everything about the specially crafted sparkling wine, Franciacorta.

Guests can enjoy tastings of the distinct bubbly while attending live music events and participating in outdoor activities like scenic bike rides through the Strada del Franciacorta vineyards and other group sports. There are over 116 different wineries to visit, so it’s a must-see for wine connoisseurs.

Or, tourist can go sightseeing through the gorgeous churches, castles, villas, gardens and nature reserves near the vineyards, including the beautiful Lake Iseo.

And just in case you’re not the type who likes to rough it while traveling the world, there’s a five-star hotel renovated from an ancient monastery near the festival — so you get the best of authentic Italian history and modern comforts.
