No offense to jerk chicken, but Jamaica’s food scene is about to grow up in a serious way. From November 13-15, a veritable who’s who of chefs will descend upon the legendary GoldenEye Resort, in Orcabessa Bay, for the first-ever NyamJam Festival.

Conceived by Chris Blackwell, the owner of GoldenEye and the founder of Island Records, the weekend will involve big names like Mario Batali, April Bloomfield, and Johnny Iuzzini, as well as local culinary upstarts, like Jamaican pitmaster Gariel Ferguson and pastry wiz Colin Hylton.

On the itinerary: a five-course meal cooked by five celebrity chefs, all made exclusively with ingredients grown on local farms; a concert by Jamaican jazz guitarist Ernest Ranglin; and a cultural bazaar combining live culinary demos, shopping, and live DJ sets.
