Cold weather is especially good for one thing: comfort food.
Everyone has their own idea of what comfort food is. For some, it’s juicy fried chicken or creamy mac and cheese. Some love a big burger. And others love a good grilled cheese.
But across the board, comfort food is rich, tasty, and almost never healthy — but it is good for the soul.

Yelp has compiled a list of the 25 best places in the United States to find truly amazing comfort food for those cold days. Or sad days. Or stressful days. Or pretty much any day.
In order to compile the list, Yelp pulled restaurants that were all categorized as “comfort food” and “southern” that are not large chains. After all, you can’t find better comfort than Southern comfort.

Then, the company measured which restaurants were “best” by using an algorithm that looks at the number of reviews and star rating for a business. Up to four businesses per state were included to ensure geographic diversity.
And, even though they’re technically Southern style, not all of them are in the South. There are restaurants all around the country including California, New York, Arizona, Georgia, and even Idaho.
Get out and treat yourself.
