Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is having a sale now through Thursday, August 30 on flights to Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden from the U.S. starting at $449.
If you're wondering why you'd want to go north for the winter, that's easy: Northern Lights, the elusive natural phenomenon that's on so many travelers' bucket lists.
The sale is on travel from November 1, 2018 through June 5, 2019, with blackout dates around Christmas and New Year's (December 20–January 8). Since the Northern Lights can best be seen from November through March, this sale was made for people who want to check out nature's light show.
Example fares include New York City to Oslo for $447 round-trip or Stockholm for $452 round-trip, and Boston to Oslo for $446 or Stockholm for $450. SAS flies to Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, England, Estonia, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, and more. See all their destinations.
In addition to cheap flights that will get you to the Northern Lights, there are also great fares to more European destinations (like $418 round-trip from New York City to London).
Book on SAS's website to see which dates could work for your trip. (When we looked at prices, the cheapest were available from the home page options, but the low-fare calendar was not showing some of the best fares.)
