Think you know what to do in Zurich? There’s no wrong way to spend a week in this beautiful Swiss city, but make sure these five activities are on your list. Believe us, you won’t be disappointed if you begin a Zurich trip window shopping on the Bahnhofstrasse—a so-called European “Fifth Avenue”—lined with Swiss watch shops, jewelry stores, and high fashion boutiques.

Just hop on the train at Bahnhof station and you’ll be in nature before you know it. The city’s namesake Lake Zurich and the Limmat River all have public swimming areas. Especially during the summer months, it’s one of the best places in Zurich to chill with locals. Make sure to do this before indulging in some famous Swiss chocolate.

For souvenirs everyone on your list will love (and a delicious treat for you), get Swiss chocolate truffles from Sprüngli. Head back to the Bahnhofstrasse to see their original shop, which also has a café. Is it any surprise that one of the most fun things to do in Zurich is to sample all the Swiss chocolates you can?

When you’re ready for dinner, go to Kronnenhalle. This classic restaurant offers upscale Swiss cuisine, which you can enjoy while admiring the impressive art on display (it has one of the largest, private collections in the world). Yes, those are original Picassos and Matisses hanging on the wall.

The nightlife in Zurich is an experience you can’t miss. Head to the Niederdorf neighborhood for the best selection of live music venues, nightclubs, and wine bars. If you’re seeking craft beer, however, your best bet is Storm & Anchor brewery, just 20 minutes outside of the city. But no matter what your drink of choice is, the Sky Bar on the rooftop of the Belle Époque hotel Eden au Lac is not overrated. From here, you can see all of the best Zurich sights and enjoy a sophisticated cocktail with travelers and locals alike.
