The World's Oldest Panda Had an Ice Cake at Her 37th Birthday Party
Thirty-seven years old may not seem like such an accomplishment at first, but that comes out to be 111 years in panda years. Jia Jia—an absolutely adorable giant panda living in a Hong Kong wildlife sanctuary called Ocean Park—recently broke the world record for oldest living panda when she celebrated her 37th birthday. Here's some perspective: Pandas in captivity generally live to be about 30 years old, and 8-10 when in the wild.
To make the occasion even cuter, the employees made her an ice cake boasting the ripe, old age for the panda to enjoy. Here's a bit of coverage on the celebration:
