This video footage of a small plane taking off from the Courchevel Altiport runway is enough to make anyone book a ticket, grab some skis, and head to the French Alps. Although beautiful, this airport is actually ranked as the seventh most dangerous airport in the world by the History Channel. That’s not a huge surprise, considering it’s surrounded by mountains, ski slopes, and has an upslope runway. Landing at Courchevelin the fog and rainy weather is especially tricky due to the lack of instrument approach procedure or lighting aids. All of the danger aside, it sure is pretty!
