The booming downtown Los Angeles arts district is about to get one more attraction—David Lynch’s new music and arts festival. The David Lynch Foundation has just announced its first-ever Festival Of Disruption, which will take place at the Ace Hotel and Theater in downtown Los Angeles on October 8th and 9th, 2016.
The line-up was curated entirely by Lynch, the auteur filmmaker, artist, and musician behind films like Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, and Mulholland Drive. Performers will include Led Zeppelin’s front man Robert Plant with his band the Sensational Space Shifters, St. Vincent, Rhye, and Jon Hopkins, but the real stand-out will be a performance of the music from Lynch’s beloved cult television series Twin Peaks. Composer Angelo Badalamenti will perform the score with help from Sky Ferreira and Xiu Xiu and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. The concert will help fill a void for fans eagerly awaiting the show’s return to television on Showtime in 2017. (No word on whether cherry pie will be served.)
In addition to the musicians, the Festival of Disruption will also feature Lynch’s hand-selected array of visual artists, virtual reality creators, choreographers, DJs, and an incredible roster of lecturers including architect Frank Gehry, comedy legend Mel Brooks, Blondie members Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, and longtime Lynch collaborators Kyle MacLachlan and Laura Dern, Movie fans will want to pick up a festival ticket in order to catch a screening of Lynch’s rarely seen Lynch short films.
Tickets will go on sale Friday, June 24th at 10 am PST via the festival website.
