Staying entertained while being stuck at home isn’t just an issue for adults, it’s also an issue for kids.

While adults are dealing with layoffs or their sudden work-from-home status due to coronavirus, kids are also now finding themselves at home and in desperate need of something to occupy their time. While there are lots of ways to help educate your children at home, from virtual museum tours to daily science lesson livestreams, you also need to make time just for fun.

Luckily, the Auberge Resorts Collection, a collection of luxury resorts and five-star hotels all over the world, has the perfect way to keep kids entertained: A DIY piñata.

Just think about it: It’s a DIY project, an art lesson, and a celebration with games and candy all rolled into one. Who doesn’t love art, games, and candy?

If you have some colored paper, glue, and cardboard lying around the house, it’s easy to make a piñata for an impromptu, at-home kids party. If your child is having their birthday during this time, it’s especially useful for keeping them upbeat (despite not being able to invite friends over).

The Auberge Resorts Collection website has an online tutorial for making your own party piñata, courtesy of the Pescadito's Kids Club at the Chileno Bay Resort & Residences. To make one, you will need cardboard, string, tissue or recycled paper, tape, and scissors. And if your kids want to make their piñata look like their favorite animal, having some markers or other art supplies nearby will also be handy.
